In Goregaon (West), a couple was found dead in their housing society on Friday morning. Mumbai Police suspect that 57-year-old Kishor Pednekar, a gym equipment salesman, ended his life by jumping off a building after allegedly killing his wife, Rajeshree, who worked as a physiotherapist.
The incident was reported by the watchman at a bank's office located on the ground floor of the G+4 floor Topiwala CHS, B-Wing, who informed the police control room about a man lying on the society’s premises with a severe head injury at around 5:30 am in the Jawahar Nagar area. Pednekar was discovered on the road in front of Topiwala Mansion and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Attempts to contact Rajeshree were unsuccessful, and the couple's flat was found locked. The key was discovered in a locket Pednekar was wearing. Upon opening the flat, police found Rajeshree lying in the hall. She was also declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Pednekar allegedly strangled Rajeshree to death in the early hours of Friday, possibly following an argument, before locking her inside and jumping from the third floor of the building.
The couple's son, who works in Delhi, has been informed about the deaths. An accidental death case has been registered at the Goregaon police station, and further investigation is underway. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death.
